چکیده
Dental radiology has long played an exciting and critical diagnostic role in dentistry. Recent decades have seen the development of computed tomography (CT), magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), nuclear medicine and ultrasonography imaging modalities that have revolutionized dental and medical diagnosis. 1 Despite the development of these novel imaging modalities, the role of conventional radiography in dentistry remains unparalleled. However, the use of conventional radiography is not free from limitations. They are two dimensional representations of a three dimensional structure. They do not provide precise relationship of the critical anatomic structures like neurovascular bundle and the maxillary sinus with the lesion. 2 CT has been used to obtain detailed information on the internal anatomic structures of the jaws. Since most of the maxillary and the mandibular structures run parallel to the plane of the axial and coronal scans, neither of these images clearly ABSTRACT

Evaluation of the Frequency of Incidental Findings on Digital Panoramic Radiographs of Referrals to Maxillofacial Radiology Department of Yazd Dental School in 2019
Introduction: Early treatment of dental anomalies and oral/dental lesions can prevent maxillofacial abnormalities and other complications. Since in most cases these lesions are asymptomatic, they are often discovered randomly in different radiographic images. Therefore, the aim of this study was to investigate the incidental findings on digital panoramic radiographs of referrals to Maxillofacia...
متن کاملThe Effect of Panoramic Radiography on the Diagnosis of Lesions in Dentistry and Its Effect on Cumulative Dose
Introduction: One of the most commonly used radiography methods for the diagnosis of oral and dental diseases is the panoramic radiography technique. This technique is widely used due to ease of implementation, extensive coverage, time and cost savings. Dental radiography, as a routine and appropriate test, accounts for about 33% of the total radiographic examination. However, ...
متن کاملEvaluation of Cone Beam Computed Tomography in Diagnosis and Treatment Plan of Impacted Maxillary Canines
Introduction: Maxillary canines have important roles in facial appearance, development of arch, and functional occlusion. Radiographs are important in evaluating the location and nature of these anomalies. The purpose of this study was to evaluate two types of 2D and 3D imaging technique in diagnosis and treatment of maxillary impacted canines. Methods: Thirty eight patients (50 impacted canine...
